Physical Education
Intent
At Marsh Hill Primary, our intent for Physical Education is to develop well-rounded, confident, and active students. We aim to provide every child with high-quality physical education that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically demanding activities. We believe in nurturing a lifelong love of sports and fitness, understanding its importance in promoting long-term health and well-being.
Implementation
Our Physical Education curriculum is structured to ensure that students from all backgrounds engage in fun, educational, and skill-enhancing activities. We have partnered with GetSet4PE to deliver an innovative and inclusive program. This program not only meets the national curriculum requirements but also enriches the students' learning experience through interactive and engaging sessions. Our dedicated staff are committed to delivering a diverse range of sports to cover different interests and abilities, ensuring that every child can participate and benefit.
Alongside this, we offer a range of extra curricula activities and sports-based clubs. We want the children to be able to experience both traditional activities, such as Dance, Gymnastics, Swimming, Athletics and Games as well as more elite activities, such as Archery or Boxercise. We aim that children are able to identify and celebrate their own successes, as well as those of their peers and that they are also recognised by the adults they engage with, through praise and reward, culminating each year with sports awards that recognise outstanding talent and achievement.
Impact
The Impact of our PE curriculum is significant and far-reaching. Through regular participation in sports and exercises, students show improvements in both physical and mental health. It also fosters essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and perseverance. At Marsh Hill Primary, we are proud to see our students grow in confidence and capability, preparing them not just for the next stages of their academic careers but for lifelong success and happiness.
Pupils in EYFS are encouraged to be an "Amazing Athlete" and "Talented Tool User" through their PE lessons, planned adult-led activities and child-initiated activities in the continuous provision.
