Year 2
2P - Miss Parveen
2H - Mrs Harris/Mr Moheen
Teaching Assistants: Miss Caven and Mr Hamblett
Every morning in Year 2 focuses upon our core subjects of Maths, English and Phonics/spelling skills. The first lesson of the afternoon every day is our reading lesson where we practise to apply our phonics skills to support us in becoming confident and fluent readers. We learn foundation subjects like History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology and Science through different topics that change each half term. These subjects are taught through exciting, engaging activities where children are able to learn in groups and independently. Our trips and worships link to our topics bringing our learning to life for the children.
Within all lessons children are given the opportunity to think and discuss their ideas with their teachers and peers where they develop their speaking and listening skills which is vital to all learning.
We send homework home on Fridays and would like the children to bring their completed homework back to school on the following Wednesday. Reading books are also returned on Wednesdays and sent home on Fridays. The book that is sent home matches your child’s phonic ability. Each week your child will also come home with a self selected library book for reading for pleasure. This may be read to your child to be enjoyed. Please read with your children as much as possible as it really does help with their learning in many areas across the curriculum. To move up our reading rewards ladder parents must comment and sign their child's reading journal at least 3 times each week.
We strive to ensure that all the children are happy, and reach their maximum potential while learning with us.
