Year 3

3C - Mrs Cureton      3M - Mrs Mirza

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Campbell and Miss Marshall

A morning in Year 3 consists of phonics, writing and mathematics. In each of these lessons, children are taught new skills and strategies and have the opportunity to apply and build on these regularly.

In the afternoons, children are taught reading discretely along with the foundation subjects; science, history, geography and art.

Currently we are doing Physical Education on Thursday afternoons. The children are asked to bring their PE kit in school. Please note, the correct PE kit must be worn. This is black shorts/jogging bottoms, a white t-shirt and suitable footwear.

We are very lucky in Year 3 as our weekly Music lessons are provided by the Music Service. The children are taught to play the ukele by a qualified peripatetic teacher.

Homework is set on a Friday and is expected to be completed by the following Wednesday. Reading books also are given out on Fridays and are to be returned the following Wednesday. Children are expected to read for at least ten minutes daily. Children have the opportunity to visit the school library once a week and we encourage children to bring these books into school daily.
