Transition

How do we support you and your child with transition into our school and across the key stages?

If your child has additional needs recognised before they start school in our Reception class, we will liaise with the relevant nursery settings to find out as much information as possible about your child’s needs.  This may include any targets, documentation or information from outside agencies that will help us establish a support plan for your child.  We may arrange for additional meetings and visits to enable us to all work together. Where required, we will provide your child with a Social Stories book which will help them talk about life in their new school.

During your child’s education at our school, transition will be supported by all staff and outside agencies involved with your child. Where required, we provide transition booklets to help your child understand the changes that will be happening.

When your child moves to a new school, we ensure that all information regarding your pupil’s special educational needs are passed on to the new SENDCo.  Extra visits to the school may be arranged and sometimes the new SENDCo will come to review meetings held at our school.
